The #DigCitCommit Challenge is open to legal residents of their respective countries where not prohibited by law, who are eighteen (18) years of age or older at the time of the entry who have internet access and a valid email account prior to the beginning of the Content Period. Sponsor has the right to verify the eligibility age of each entrant.
We encourage K-12 students to engage in this challenge. Submissions from students under the age of eighteen (18) must be submitted by their school/district with confirmation that the submission meets acceptable use policies that includes parental permission and compliance with all local, state and federal laws.
We will consider submissions from public or private institutes/schools, homeschooling programs, informal education programs, after school educational programs and institutes of higher education.
Please use good judgement when submitting. Successful submissions will show compelling engagement with the five #DigCitCommit competencies and engaged/empowering learning regardless of the chosen competency or competencies. For instance, submitting an artifact showing basic online safety and or creating strong passwords (while important) are not considered a strong submission. #DigCitCommit staff reserve the right to accept and reject submissions as they see fit.
Submissions deemed inappropriate by the DigCitCommit coalition will not be allowed to enter the contest. If you have any questions about whether your submission is appropriate, please e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org. Examples of inappropriate submissions include but are not limited to depicting dangerous behavior or the use of illegal substances.
You must have the right to distribute and take credit for artifacts that you submit, including permission by those photographed that meet your organization’s acceptable use policy as well as ISTE’s policies related to release of photos, models and written materials outlined as follows:
Your submission confirms that you do hereby irrevocably grant ISTE the right to use your name and image and/or your quotation(s) in all forms and media, including composite or modified representations, for all purposes, not limited to news/editorial, promotional material, display, advertising, trade, exhibition, or commercial purposes. You hereby waive the right to inspect or approve versions of my image used for publication or the written copy that may be used in connection with the images and/or quotation. You hereby release ISTE from any claims that may arise regarding the use of your image and/or quotation, including claims of defamation, invasion of privacy, or infringement of moral rights, rights of publicity, or copyright. ISTE is permitted, although not obligated, to include your name as a credit in connection with the image and/or quotation. ISTE is not obligated to utilize any of the rights granted in this Agreement. You have read and understood this Agreement, and you are 18 years or older. ISTE reserves the right to remove any User Content from the Site at any time, for any reason. If you believe Content residing on the Site or the Services infringes a copyright, please refer to our Copyright Policy below. You understand that if you are the sponsor of a submission from students under the age of eighteen (18) that the submission meets acceptable use policies of your school and district that includes parental permission and compliance with all local, state and federal laws. This Agreement expresses the complete understanding of the parties.
You do hereby give the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) the worldwide, non-exclusive, perpetual, irrevocable, royalty-free, sublicensable, transferable right and license to use, reproduce, edit, modify, reformat, excerpt, delete, translate, perform, distribute, exercise, commercialize and disclose to third parties the artifacts ("Content") created for my #DigCitCommit submission without payment or compensation. The Content can be used for reproduction in any medium for purposes of ISTE's editorial display or commercial use, including webcasting and podcasting, exhibition, advertising, commercial sales, or trade use. You understand that your image may be edited, copied, exhibited, published or distributed and waive the right to inspect or approve the finished product wherein my likeness appears. Additionally, you waive any right to royalties or other compensation arising from or related to the use or sales of my image or recording. You also understand that this material may be used in diverse settings and/or the internet across an unrestricted geographic area. You represent and warrant that you are the owner or licensee of the Content created for the #DigCitCommit Challenge; that the Content is free and clear of all liens, charges, encumbrances, and restrictions whatsoever; that you have the full power and authority to grant ISTE the ability to convert and distribute the Content; that the Content is free of viruses, worms, Trojan horses and other harmful or malicious code, files, scripts, agents or programs; that the Content is free of advertisements or solicitations of business; and that the distribution of Content does not violate or infringe upon any agreement, license, copyright or other rights of any other party.
By submitting to the contest you agree that #DigCitCommit can share the submission on social media and use the submission in promotional materials or for other purposes.
DigCitCommit staff will determine how many submissions will be considered for a prize and the details and scope of each prize. For example, if a teacher submits on behalf of their entire class and is chosen to be a winner, the entire class may be deemed the winner, while the teacher may receive additional accolades, such as being flown to a conference and presenting the winning idea, etc.
Submissions will not be accepted after 11:59 p.m. PDT on Sunday, December 20, 2019.
